We are so thrilled to share that THREE of the beautiful Los Cabos beaches are now deemed “Blue Flag Certified” by the non-profit organization, Environment Education Foundation. Last year, Chileno was one of only 5 Mexico beaches with the eco-label distinction. Today, three beaches along the Cabo Tourist Corridor have been selected: Chileno, Palmilla and Santa Maria.
According to the EEF, Blue Flag Certified beach criteria includes: environmental education and information, strict water quality and environmental standards, availability of facilities, and more.

While the facilities at Chileno were affected by Hurricane Odile, the beach is still certified blue flag. And, of course, it is still a beautiful spot to take the family for a little snorkeling and tide pool exploring.
Palmilla Beach is a new addition to the blue flag family, and for good reason. Palmilla is a smaller beach located below the well-known One&Only Palmilla Resort. Regularly voted one of the most family-friendly beaches in Cabo, you’ll enjoy her small waves and a minimal current. There are also some basic beach facilities nearby, including SUP board rentals.
Santa Maria Beach
From the moment you step on the sand you’ll have no question why the EEF recognized Santa Maria with a Blue Flag certification. Santa Maria is one of the closest beaches to Villa La Estancia, but if feels a world away from the action of Medano Beach. Santa Maria has a few facilities and brand new palapas for those times you need a little shade. The beach is located in a bay (albeit small), which protects the beach and beachgoers from larger waves. Santa Maria is usually very quiet and peaceful, but is a regular stop for many of Cabo snorkeling tours.
Each of these beautiful beaches are just a short drive from Villa La Estancia Los Cabos, and the perfect option for those looking to explore the beaches of Baja.
