As we say “adios” to Cabo’s summer and wet season, we are ready to welcome the beautiful fall days and some of the year’s most popular fishing tournaments. In fact, these next couple months play host to two but three fishing tournaments–including the largest, Bisbee’s Black and Blue.
LOS CABOS OFF SHORE: October 14 – 16
Don’t call it a prelude to it’s bigger sibling tournament. The Los Cabos Off Shore Tournament can stand alone as an amazing fishing tournament for locals and visitors. Participants can expect a festive kick-off cocktail party on Friday, two full days of fishing and of course a fun awards ceremony. Last year, the Off Shore tournament hosted a record 95 boats and boasted a purse of $629,000 in prize money.
BISBEE’S BLACK & BLUE: October 18 – 22
You can’t talk about Cabo fishing tournaments without talking about Bisbee’s Black & Blue tournament. Taking place just two days after the closure of the Off Shore Tournament, Black & Blue knows how to put on a show. This year’s kick off celebration is slated to feature Mexican Naval Escort, Mexican National Anthem, Pre-Colombian New Fire Dance, Lighting of the Tournament Torch, Japanese Taiko Drums and music by Cabomax. Teams will head out for three full fishing days, which means there is one extra day to earn some big bucks. In 2015, 121 teams set sail for a massive purse. The year’s winning team, Tranquilo, reeled in a 327-pound blue marlin that swept all but one of the optional jackpots for winnings totaling $2,511,462! Who will go home as this year’s biggest winner?
TUNA JACKPOT: November 2 – 5
You know it’s going to be a good time when the tag line reads “Fish Hard. Party Harder.” The Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot offers $700,000 in cash and prizes plus 3 parties for anglers to enjoy. The 2015 winning team reeled in a 210 Yellowfin Tuna for a purse of $78,000!
The Los Cabos Billfish Tournament also runs this October 11 – 15.
