One year ago today, category 3 Hurricane Odile made direct landfall in Los Cabos. With it came 125 mph winds and 6 hours of heavy rain.
On September 14, 2014, the people of Los Cabos and visitors were bracing for one of the worst storms to make landfall in the area’s modern history. La Estancia Vacations sent our prayers to everyone there, hoping for minimal destruction. As we all know, there was quite a lot of damage, particularly to the Tourist Corridor and the region’s more rural areas. In the days that followed, Mexico to bring food, clean water and safety back to the region. Now, 365 days later, we can’t be more proud of the progress and recovery they’ve made. Their resiliency is simply inspiring. The team at Villa La Estancia did an outstanding job keeping the guests safe and pushing forward to recovery quickly and efficiently. We’ve had the opportunity to speak with La Estancia staff, and we were blown away at how determined they were to get things back to “normal.” Many staffers slept at the resort, working almost non-stop in the days following Odile. To La Estancia staff, we say “thank you!”
We also wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has taken a trip back to Cabo this past year, maybe even before it was restored to its full glory. Those tourism dollars are incredibly important to the region’s continued rebuilding. And if you’ve taken that trip, you know that they worked so hard to ensure you still had the most memorable Mexican vacation possible.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
OKAY! Now, let’s enjoy some beautiful, recent photos of our beloved Cabo…
