It’s that time again! We got the January 17 – 23 Pisces Fishing Report from our friends at Pisces Sportfishing, and they had some good and bad news for anglers.
Overall Catch Success Rate All Species Combined: 96.6%
Numbers at a glance:
Let’s start with the good news…
In comparison to the past three years, Pisces is reporting an increase in dorado catches by 45%! That’s amazing! The boat, Tracy Ann, had a “dorado-filled day,” catching 25 dorados between 15 and 25 lbs on both bait and lures near Cerritos. *Catch limits were respected with ten successfully released. Anglers on Rebecca also landed quite a few dorados, 20 total, on caballito bait out of Golden Gate. There were also quite a few wahoos reeled in this last week.
The not-so-good news…
It was another slow week for marlin catches, according to Pisces Sportfishing. They believe the warm water temperatures are yet again to blame. Can you believe water temperatures reached 78 degrees–and remember, it’s winter! While it wasn’t a great week, there were still a few GREAT catches. On Diablo Loco, one Colorado couple set sail for Solmar/Pedregal and caught one striped marlin, two dorados, one redsnapper, one grouper and one bonita. Our visiting anglers also reeled in tunas, sierras, redsnapper, pompano and mojarra.
